Durham Community School PTA

The Durham Community School PTA meets throughout the year with a view towards supporting students and teachers, and with a goal of supporting DCS in being a great school for all families. The PTA sponsors community focussed events, as well as fundraisers to provide for visiting artists, enrichment in the classroom, and field work opportunities.

The PTA welcomes parents and family members from across the school and is dependent on volunteer help. We recognize that a monthly meeting does not work for all people but helping out at one or several events is a great way to support the school.

Meetings typically take place on the second Monday of the month at 6:00 pm, and for the 2021 - 2022 school year will take place on the following dates.

Meetings are in the school library.

Annual events

  • Fall Book Fair - this also raises money for the library.

  • Treat Street - Halloween party for students in grades PK-4.

  • Craft Fair (Fundraiser)

  • Spring Book Fair

  • Funfair - activities for students Pk-5 in support of 5th grade fundraiser to attend camp.




Support for student activities

  • Enrichment opportunities through visiting authors, presentors, and performers.

  • Support for field work that supports enriching the curriculum and gets students out of the classroom.

Support for teachers

  • Snack cart treats throughout the school year.

  • Snacks for occasional Staff Meetings.

  • PTA grants for teachers to purchase needed supplies for enriching learning opportunities.
