How are the Title funds used at RSU 3?
We have five Title IA teachers who provide literacy and math interventions across the three elementary schools. These interventions can be provided in a variety of ways including small groups, one-on-one instruction, or in classroom support.
Our Title II funds pay for one elementary classroom teacher at MVES allowing us to have smaller class sizes without costing more from the local budget.
Our Title IA funds also allow us to purchase needed materials to support the Title program including intervention kits/supplies, books for students and other materials.
Our Title IA funds include funding for our math and literacy family events at the elementary schools.
Right to Request Teacher and Paraprofessional Qualifications
As a parent of a student in a Title One school in RSU 3, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers who instruct your child, and Federal law requires the school district to provide you this information in a timely manner if you request it. Specifically, you have the right to request the following information about each of your child’s classroom teachers:
Whether the teacher meets the state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grades and subjects he or she teaches.
Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or provisional status because of special circumstances.
The teacher’s college major, whether the teacher has any advanced degrees, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree.
Whether paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if so, their qualifications.
If you would like to receive any of this information, please contact Erica Gower, Assistant Superintendent at 948-6136 or egower@rsu3.org
