Giving back, inspiring change!
All of the following terms and conditions apply to Senior Project. Read through all carefully before signing up. Any questions please email Senior Project Coordinator, Ms. Stockbridge, at astockbridge@rsu21.net
What is Senior Project?
The Senior Project aims to give eligible seniors the chance to engage in a community-benefiting activity for 40 hours over two weeks, from May 19th to June 1st, instead of attending regular high school classes. Seniors are encouraged to choose a project that aligns with their interests and creates a positive impact. Participation in the Senior Project is optional. Students who choose not to participate are required to attend their regularly scheduled classes during this time, and all standard school rules remain in effect.
Who is eligible?
Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to participate:
Must be a senior.
Must be passing all their current classes for the year.
Must have completed all community service hours.
Must have acceptable attendance (deemed by an administrator) in all classes at the end of third quarter. (March 28).
Must not have had any major discipline referrals in the 3rd or 4th quarters.
Must meet all deadlines pertaining to Senior Project.
What can I do for Senior Project?
Your senior project provides an opportunity to give back to your community by working on something you're passionate about. You can choose to work alone or with others. For inspiration, check out the 2024 Senior Project slideshow above. You might find a community organization in need of your help or discover a cause you're passionate about where you can apply your skills. Additionally, there are pre-arranged activities with local non-profit organizations available on a first-come, first-served basis under Community Projects. The Community Projects will be available for sign-up after March 18th.
Additional requirements: Seniors must complete the Senior Project registration by April 23rd. You must not be paid and the hours cannot be counted toward the community service requirement. You must have a community partner or mentor who can confirm that you completed the tasks outlined in your proposal. Seniors are not permitted to complete the Senior Project with family members or relatives. The 40 "work" hours are flexible and can be completed at any time within the two-week period. Exceptions to the work hours and dates may be made with prior approval from Ms. Stockbridge. Any existing commitments to athletic teams, music/band, or other extracurricular activities must be maintained during this time. While you can collaborate with fellow students on a project, each participant must submit their own Senior Project Proposal. All projects must be approved by Ms. Stockbridge prior to starting.
