Art 1

Art 1 is my beginner level art class. Many students join this class to receive their fine arts credit and I don't always see the same amount of effort from these students as it is not their passion compared to upper level art classes. This year all 3 of my Art 1 groups were really incredible in that, despite many of the students joining for the credit, they consistently: worked hard, asked thoughtful questions, and brainstormed creative ideas. They have been a joy to work with this year and even during this time at home I have been amazed at their dedication to their work and their positive attitudes. They have learned some new mediums, explored some art history, and practiced critiquing art. Some of the projects they worked on this year were: still life large scale in charcoal, hand drawing surrealism, abstract art, Pop Art style artwork, Oil pastel and color theory, watercolor painting techniques and much more.
