Credits awarded for macro-internships will be equivalent to the time spent in school for a typical class. (For example, a one semester internship in which a student participates in at least 3 hours of on-site experience a week and demonstrates proficiency in at least 3 performance indicators would provide the opportunity to earn up to one half credit.)
The purpose of this extended internship is to allow students multiple opportunities to cultivate and refine workplace skills (punctuality, dependability, cooperation, initiative, attitude, and appearance) in a career connected to their goals. This type of internship will span either a semester or a full year and be offered as an alternative pathway for earning academic credit and demonstrating proficiency within the Career and Education Department for students. While there may be an opportunity for paid work, learning is the primary focus of this internship.
The Macro-Internship, coordinated by the Career Education Department, provides students an extended opportunity to connect their career goals with their education. The macro-internship strives to enhance the partnership between the school and community by serving the needs of local business and industry, while at the same time cultivating the confidence, responsibility, and maturity necessary for success on the job among our students.
