Nokomis Regional High looks forward to creating community partnerships that provide alternatives for students to pursue their learning and interests outside of the school grounds. Extended Learning provides the opportunity for students to acquire skills and knowledge outside of the traditional classroom setting. ELOs can take a number and variety of forms, depending on the particular interest of the student and the content of what they would like to learn.

Community partners are businesses, non-profit organizations, or individuals providing a student or group of students with an extended learning opportunity (ELO). Some examples of ways community partners work with students are through mentoring, internships, work experience, and volunteer work. The role of community partners can differ depending on the type of ELO. in general, community partners:
provide the learning experiences/environment that allow the student to gain mastery in the predetermined competencies
support and coach students in their ELO experience
provide the student with timely, detailed feedback to develop skills, knowledge, problem-solving ability, creativity, and complex thinking
Other ways community partners may work with our students are through classroom/school visits, business tours, and job shadow opportunities.
We are proud of our current partners and appreciate the support they provide for our students.
