To enroll and be a part of the hike, you must bring a flag to the summit, and raise the flag. The goal of the hike is to place a flag on the summit of every mountain listed on this website. You can have as many people in your group as you wish, but it is recommended you only have around 10-12 climbers to ensure the Leave No Trace policy.
In an effort to ensure every mountain receives a flag, we encourage you to book the mountain you plan on hiking via the booking tab. Although more than one group is allowed, it is encouraged to book you own mountain.
If multiple groups have booked the same mountain, we will reach out to all groups involved and coordinate hike times and the transport of a single flagpole to the summit.
For the flagpole, it is recommended that you assemble a flagpole out of PVC parts or other detachable, lightweight parts to ensure the hike up is as easy as can be. If a flag pole is not an option, then just taking up a flag of any size is acceptable.
As a lead hiker, you are responsible for providing a flag for your mountain and coordinating with the other members of your hiking party on arrival times. You will also be responsible for taking a photo of your group at the summit with the flag raised or flown.
It would be ideal for a flagpole on every summit at noon on the day of the hike. To help the hikers, we have attached photos of an example flagpole design and measurements
