Literacy in kindergarten is a mixture of Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Reading and Writing. Some of the standards we focus on are listed below. In addition, we have online literacy platforms we use to support skills. Those include Seesaw, Lexia and Epic. They are safe apps that are district-purchased.

Some of our major Literacy Standards:

-I can produce and recognize rhyming pairs.               

-I can segment, count and blend syllables.

-I can identify all lower and uppercase letters/sounds.             

-I can read aloud at a Fountas and Pinnell Reading Level D.

-I can blend and segment sounds in words.

 -I can substitute a sound to make a new word.

-With support, I can tell the main topic and some key details of a text. 

-I can draw and write to narrate, share an opinion, inform, or explain about a topic.

-I can print all upper and lowercase letters.

-I can correctly write a simple sentence.

-I can spell simple words phonetically using letter sounds.
