When people ask me why I am running, the answer always comes back to something that’s been growing in my heart for a long time: servant leadership, for me, it’s about living out the fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, in a way that serves others through action, not just words.
You hear a lot of candidates say, “God called me to run.” And while I respect that, my path feels different. I don’t claim to have heard a divine call; I believe God is pushing me, shaping me, and using the experiences He’s given me to prepare me for this moment. Every step in my professional journey has led me here, to serve as District Court Judge, Place 3, in Shelby County.
Unlike many candidates who have spent their entire careers in one specific area of law, my background is broad and diverse. I bring more than legal experience, I bring real-world understanding. I’ve worked in operations management for the largest third-party collections firm in the country, gaining first-hand knowledge of the small claims and debt collection process. I’ve practiced in criminal, civil, and domestic courts. I’ve handled everything from traffic tickets and injury claims to custody disputes and protection from abuse petitions.
I cut my teeth under the presiding Domestic Relations Judge in Jefferson County, and I’ve represented clients across the legal spectrum: in district criminal matters, municipal appeals, and civil cases up to $20,000. I’ve even served as a hearing officer, conducting evidentiary hearings and weighing complex testimony to make fair, lawful decisions.
This isn’t a stepping stone for me. I’m not interested in moving to Circuit Court or seeking a higher office. My passion is for this seat, District Court, Place 3, because it’s where I believe I’m best equipped to serve. I’m not looking to try jury trials for capital cases or sit through weeks-long medical malpractice proceedings. I am ready to do the work of a District Court Judge, day in and day out, with diligence, fairness, and humility.
At 50 years old, I’m in a season of life where I’m ready to give back, not just for a term or two, but for as long as the people of Shelby County will allow me to serve. I bring the experience, the perspective, and the heart for the job.
I want to be your judge, not to gain power, but to serve with purpose. Fair. Freedom. Fairness. Grounded in law. Guided by faith. Ready to lead.
