Philosophy 

The Haddam Killingworth High School counselors believe that all students have dignity and worth and should be able to learn in a safe, inviting, and mutually respectful environment. We believe that each student has unique strengths and qualities that should be nurtured throughout their high school experience. We respect individual differences and advocate for each student’s specific needs within the overall educational process. It is our mission to assist each student to plan for life after high school. We collaborate with other stakeholders to support students’ growth toward being lifelong learners and college, career, and community ready. We seek to cultivate an atmosphere of trust and confidence between the counselor and the student.
