Course Requirements
I. Participation is 80% of your grade. You must have a passing grade for participation in
order to pass for the quarter
A. Involvement in class activities is worth 10 points per class period.
1. 2 points for warm-ups/cardiovascular activity, performing the skills to the best of
your ability, staying on task, being in the gymnasium on time (being tardy will
cost the warm-up points).
2. 2 points for being dressed in proper athletic attire. Not dressing for class more than 3
times will result in a 5 point daily deduction. This also includes not chewing gum/candy
during class.
3. 6 points for overall attitude, cooperation and effort during discussion, drills and game
play.
B. Students that are absent from class will need to make-up that day of class. This
can be done by filling out a “Physical Education Make-Up” sheet, completing 20 minutes
of physical activity, and having the sheet signed by a parent or guardian. A student
can also make-up an absent day by turning in their fitness log. Each day completed
on the fitness log will count for credit toward both the log and 1 absent day.
C. Students that are in class, but unable to participate must have a note stating why they
cannot participate and have this signed by their parent or guardian.
Parents: If your child has been seen by a doctor and is unable or limited to
activity in class, please have the doctor write a note explaining what
your child can and cannot do.
D. Students who are asked to leave class because of dangerous or disruptive behavior
will receive a 0 for that class period without the chance to make this day up.
II. A. Activity logs are 10% of your grade. In order to meet physical education goals during this time, we ask students to be physically active for 30 minutes each day, 5 days out of the week and outside of school (excluding 2 days of physical education class). Physical education class will only count towards your activity log 2x per week.
Remember, activity time doesn’t have to happen all at once. You can add up your total activity throughout the day to equal 30 minutes and 150 minutes for the week. Students, at the end of each week are asked to submit their finished activity log on google forms. Activity logs will run from Monday-Sunday.
B. An “A” cannot be earned during class if the fitness logs are not turned in.
III. Miscellaneous assignments will be worth 10% of your grade.
A. These assignments may consist of group projects, handout assignments or unit quizzes.
The quizzes will cover techniques, strategy, and rules of the unit(s).
