Mrs. Templin’s Classroom Expectations
8th Grade Science
Behavior
In Class Expectation:
Each day you come to my classroom, I expect that you come to learn.
I will respect all students, and I expect you to also respect me and the other students in the classroom.
Assignments
Assignments/Grading:
Assignments graded on effort:
An effort grade is based on ten points.
If the assignment is complete with the appropriate work and directions followed, you will receive the full ten points.
If it is not complete, it will be marked incomplete.
If it is still incomplete at the end of a quarter or mid-term it will be entered as a zero.
Late assignments may be turned in for up to an 80%, until the end of a unit (until the assessment).
Assignments graded on accuracy:
Any assignments graded on accuracy will be based out of 100%.
Correcting or retaking assignments or tests:
You can fix any assignment one time, and receive points back by resubmitting.
The corrections must be turned in before the end of each unit.
If you’d like to retake a test, you need to meet with me and we can discuss a plan.
Cheating:
If you are caught cheating, the assignment or test score will be logged into Skyward as a zero for all students involved.
A comment will also be added that the “zero assignment” was a consequence of cheating on that assignment/test on Skyward.
Absences and Tardiness
Expectation if Absent:
Assignments will be posted on Google Classroom daily.
It is your responsibility to check these materials when absent.
Make an effort to know what you missed and gather the materials before the next science class period.
Expectation if Absent for School Sponsored Event (sports, show choir, FFA or other field trip:
You will need to make sure you hand in or submit any assignments due, before your departure.
You will need to pick up any new assignments before your departure.
Failure to do so will result in a late grade.
Be ready for class time:
It is important that you are in class on time.
If you are tardy you will use one of your two total passes for the quarter.
What can I use my two passes for? (Late to class, need to go back to get materials, using the restroom, want to leave to get my water bottle filled up etc…)
Coming late to class without a pass is considered tardy.
When your two total passes for the quarter are used, each after will result in one lunch detention.
Leave items that you will not need in your locker (hats, bags, food etc..)
Come to class prepared.. This included your chromebooks charged and ready for each day. (notebook/folder/pencil etc..)
Other Classroom Rules
Students will be allowed to bring their own water bottle to class.
These will contain only water.
Have them filled up prior to class.
Students will NOT be allowed to bring food to class, unless of a medical condition that I was made aware of.
Students will NOT be allowed to bring their backpacks into class.
Students will NOT be allowed to bring any other electronic devices to class, except their school issued Chromebooks.

Chromebook Expectations
Expectations for the use of Chromebooks:
Usernames and passwords will be the same as last year.
Bring your Chromebook and headphones to school each day.
Charge your Chromebook every night.
Bring your charger along with you to school each day in your case.
When not in use, Chromebooks will remain in their cases.
Each student will stay on approved sites. The district uses a monitoring program called BARK to alert staff to student usage concerns.
Food and drinks will be kept away from the Chromebook.
If the Chromebook is not working properly, students should let their homeroom teacher know immediately in the morning.
