Fifth grade social studies focuses on U.S. History from early explorers through the Civil War. We will start learning about map skills, continents and oceans, and the 50 states. We then will be learning about the early explorers. We learn all about the settlers living in the colonies and the American Revolution. We will learn about how we became a nation and our unique government. We will also learn about the Westward expansion and finally, we finish the year with the Civil War and the reconstruction era.
