Using a workshop approach, children work on
developing skills to be lifelong readers, writers,
mathematicians, and thinkers. I use Units of Study in
Reading to provide students with instruction,
modeling, independent/partner reading, and individual
support as they read good fit books. Units of Study in
Writing is used to engage students in authentic writing
tasks in three types of writing: narrative, information,
and opinion. In math workshop, children further
develop their skills by thinking about numbers in
flexible ways, solving problems, and explaining
solutions to their peers.
