It is time shake things up a bit! We are reimagining what our Drama department can be. Before registration for next year, we'd like to let you know what we are all about.
Our small, scrappy theatre department is full of opportunities for students to learn about theatre arts and take on leadership roles and jobs. The goal of this re-brand is to attract students who are interested in being Big Fish in a Small Pond, so to speak!
We're transforming our department into a Theatre Company where students have ownership and responsibility in the daily work and decision-making. With guidance, students will work under a theatre company hierarchy to directly contribute to our program.
To get started, we are reshaping our Theatre Arts classes. Please take the surveys below to let us know what activities you'd find most useful and interesting. Even if you never intend to take a drama class, we'd still like to know what you are curious about!

This class is both a FINE ART and OCCUPATIONAL EDUCATION credit.
Theater Prod students learn about the behind-the-scenes technical elements of theatre the first time they take the class.
The next time they take the class, as an Advanced Theatre Production student, they will be trained for jobs that they will submit applications for in class, and they'll have the responsibility of accomplishing tasks related to our production company. You can take this class either semester, as many times as you like. There will be different focus areas each time you take it.

Drama 3 and Drama 4 (formerly known as 'Advanced Drama') also count as FINE ART credit toward graduation.
These classes will be working toward public performances for Thespys Excellence Awards in Spokane and short plays for the Washington State Thespians Festival in Seattle.
These classes will be about practicing and honing drama skills, including Movement, Voice, Acting Methods and Styles, Improv, Devised theatre, and Monologues/Scene work. We will also expand our learning to more advanced areas like Acting for the Camera and Musical Theatre. Students are welcome to take these classes as many times as they like.
