Serving on the VGE PTO Board is a great way to get involved, share your ideas and help support our students, staff and families. Board members work together to help guide PTO activities, events and initiatives throughout the school year.
Active VGE PTO volunteers who meet the eligibility requirements outlined in our bylaws may be nominated for a board position.
Nominations are accepted during the spring election period. Members may nominate another eligible member or nominate themselves.
Board elections are held at the May general meeting. Eligible PTO members vote to elect the following school year's board.
Eligibility: Active volunteer status with RRPS + attended at least 5 monthly meetings or volunteered at 3 events during the prior school year; members cannot hold more than one board position; only one board position may be held per household.
Nominations: Accepted beginning at the April general meeting until one week before the May general meeting. Members can nominate another member or themselves. A nominee must be present or provide written consent to serve in the position if elected.
Elections: Held at the conclusion of the May general meeting. Voting is by ballot and includes eligible members nominated during the nomination period. A majority of votes cast is required; if no candidate receives a majority, the bylaws provide for a runoff between the two candidates receiving the most votes.
