RRPS Arts Integration Pilot Program

Arts integration and Montessori education are similar in that both emphasize creativity and interdisciplinary learning, but Montessori also focuses on making learning joyful and building self-confidence:

Interdisciplinary learning

Both Montessori and arts integration encourage students to make connections between different subjects and areas of learning. In Montessori, art is integrated into the curriculum and connected to other subjects like math, science, and language. In arts integration, students can use art to express their understanding of a topic.

Creativity

Both Montessori and arts integration encourage students to express themselves creatively. In Montessori, students are encouraged to explore their inner world through art. In arts integration, students can develop artistic habits of mind that can be applied across academic disciplines.

Holistic development

Both Montessori and arts integration support the development of the whole child, including their intellectual, emotional, social, and physical skills.

Self-expression

Both Montessori and arts integration provide opportunities for students to express themselves. In Montessori, students can explore their inner world through art. In arts integration, students can use art to express their understanding of a topic.

Collaboration

Both Arts Integration and Montessori stress the collaborative nature of learning.
