The Rio Rancho Rams wrestling program has won a total of 14 State Team Titles since the school's inception in 1997. During the time period that the RAMS Program has existed, we have not only had the ultimate team success but we have also had individual success. The RAMS have crowned 38 individual titles at the NM State Tournament and well over 100 other wrestlers who have claimed their place as NM State Placers. The RAMS wrestling program has had a history of traveling across the US to compete at premier national wrestling events which have had a big contribution to the longstanding success. As with every athletic program, the coaching staff has really made a big impact on many of the wrestlers. Their commitment to teaching young adults not only about wrestling but also contributing their own life experience to advancing each wrestler to become a great person.

Tournaments
The RAMS wrestling program has traditionally continued to run a great event called the Southwest Shootout Duals. Over the years we have had many great teams come from around the Western part of the United States. Teams from Montana, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and Kansas. The community, the high school administration, and our parents at Rio Rancho High School have contributed to putting on one of the premier dual tournaments in the state of New Mexico.
Just recently with the addition of Girls wrestling in New Mexico, we have added to our great Southwest Shootout Duals event and have included separately an individual event named the Southwest Shootout Girls Tournament. Every year this event has grown as more of the dual teams have brought their girl's teams.
Duals
The RAMS wrestling program does participate in individual duals. This format is set up in a few ways, we often will wrestle one team in our gym and it takes place one weight at a time at all Levels (C-Team, JV, Girls, and Varsity). The other way we dual is in a multiple-team competition. Our Southwest Shootout duals has over 16 teams that attend and each team wrestles other teams. There are smaller multiple-team competitions such as tri (3 teams), a quad (4 teams), and sometimes it will be more than 4 teams. Each individual's win goes towards a total team point.
