Hello! My name is Kate Osmunson and I have been fortunate enough to become your student’s Special Education teacher this year. I have been teaching Special Education for 5 years and working with students with exceptional needs for 10. I have worked with the University of New Mexico for several years to increase the success of each of my student’s individual academic and behavioral needs. I will work together with your student’s GE teacher to make sure we get the absolute most out of virtual learning!
First and foremost I would like to welcome you to what will be a year to remember! I know how stressful this has been and can only imagine what some of you have been through. I wanted to share that I am here for you and your families first. Our mental and physical health throughout this whole thing is paramount to everything. So please let me know if there is any way I can make this experience more seamless and as stress free as possible.
As of right now, the best way to get in touch with me is by email: kathryn.osmunson@rrps.net or Class Dojo account: NMS RLO.
Fun Facts about Ms. O: I am 35 years old and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelors of Science in Biology in 2010. I am a single parent with two boys , both in middle school. This is my fifth year teaching with Cielo Azul as a special education teacher and my second year teaching inclusion. My background is primarily focused on behavior analysis and supporting students with autism. I have over ten years of experience within the home and community providing support to students and families of children with disabilities. Everyday I strive to spark the intrinsic motivation of students to learn and discover more. I constantly try to improve on strategies within myself or within academics to help students reach their highest potential. I pride myself with a classroom that is organized, well managed and data driven.
Have a wonderful summer!! I will think of you all! Thank you for such a wonderful year!!
