How to Report a Student Absent:
Please call the attendance line at 505-867-0711 (choose option 1) leave the student's first and last name, grade, reason for absence, your first and last name, and relation to the student. If you do not leave a reason for your students absence it will aoutomatically be marked as unexcused (UNX). You may fax Doctor's notes to 505-867-7901 or have your student bring them to the front office.
Excused Absences
Illness ( including chronic illness documented on a health plan, IEP, or a 504 plan)
Family emergencies (details need to be provided)
Medical, dental, or legal appointments (with a doctor's note)
Religious commitment
Extenuating circumstances may be approved in advance by the Principal.
Unexcused Absences
Family vacations/ reunions
Non-school sponsored activities, athletic clubs or trips
Absences for which a parent or guardian did not call the student in, or did not give a reason for the absence.
Did You Know?
Students should miss no more than 9 days of school each year to stay engaged, successful, and on track to graduation.
By 6th grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.
Missing just two days a month for the entire school year is known as chronic absenteeism.
