Vision Statement
The vision of the school counseling program at Maggie Cordova Elementary School is for every student to reach their maximum potential as responsible, lifelong learners and positive citizens of the world. All students possess strategies for academic achievement and graduate prepared for continued educational opportunities. All students courageously demonstrate strong character development and emotional self-regulation. All students display kindness, respect, empathy, and perseverance as they explore their unique abilities, interests, and talents. Each student honestly conducts critical self-analysis to determine a fulfilling career path. Every student is a productive contributor to the diverse global community.
Counseling Program Goals
Develop and implement a counseling program focused on each student’s social, intellectual, and emotional growth.
Provide classroom instruction, small group and individual counseling.
Serve as mental health care and behavioral consultants to the school and community.
Uphold the standards of the School Counseling profession.
Expected Student Outcomes
Maggie Cordova Elementary School utilizes Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as a school-wide system for all students and staff to engage positively. Additionally, utilizing the Zones of Regulation, Character Strong, and additional supplemental Social Emotional Learning materials, students will work on the following:

Counseling Activities
Individual Student Planning Services:
Meet with students at school in short individual sessions as requested by students, staff, or guardians for academic, social-emotional, or college/career readiness
Assist with locating community resources for ongoing therapeutic needs
Coordinate 504 Plans
Support the development of FBAs and Behavior Plans
Facilitate peer mentorship program
Responsive Services:
Form small groups to support the emergent needs of students
Conduct Harm Protocols
Respond to students who are emotionally dysregulated
Support families who are housing, food, or clothing insecure
Involve School Resource Officers or other community agencies when needed
Provide school supplies and backpacks
Mediation
System Support Services:
SAT Team consultants
PBIS Team leads
Attendance Team members
Daily breakfast and lunch duty
Coordinate and facilitate Project Backpack
Identify students eligible for McKinney-Vento Homeless Project support.
