What does a General Education Social Worker do anyways?
I support GE students who might need a little extra help to be successful in the school setting. This can be helping them learn and practice a variety of different coping skills.
Some examples of topics they may work on include:
Anger management
Anxiety (within school setting)
Coping skills: (behaviors, family changes (that maybe carrying into school setting), grief)
Self-esteem
Self-Control
Social Skills
Life Skills (relating to routines/school)
Adjusting to a new school/new district
Developing resilience during adversity, etc.
I mostly meet with students individually but on some occasions I meet with students in small groups if they have similar skills to work on.
About Me
Hi! my name is Naomi Roibal I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been in the Social Worker field for over 10 years.
I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology (with a concentration in addiction counseling) from UNM and a Master's in Clinical Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University.
I worked at an Early Intervention agency in Albuquerque for over 8 years before coming to the Rio Rancho Public School District.
I was born and raised in New Mexico, and I very much enjoy supporting students in the community I grew up in!
