If Your Child is Sick
If your child is not feeling well, please contact Martin Luther King Jr's Front Office and let them know your child will be absent

ILLNESS ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES
If your child is sick, please keep them home to keep other students and the staff from getting sick.
If you have to give your child medicine before coming to school, please keep him/her home for the day.
DO NOT send your child to school if he/she has:
Temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher
Vomiting
Diarrhea
An injury that makes it difficult to learn or play comfortably
Symptoms that are not getting better with treatment
Starting antibiotics and has NOT taken them for 24 hours or longer
If your child has had a FEVER:
He/she cannot come back to school until:
It has been 24 hours since the last temperature above 100.4 AND
He/she has not taken Tylenol, Ibuprofen, or any other medications
For example, if a student has a fever Sunday at 5 pm, he/she cannot return to school on Monday. The student can return on Tuesday as long as he/she has not had a fever all day Monday.
If your child has been VOMITING:
He/she cannot come back to school until able to eat some food without vomiting or feeling the need to vomit.
Students cannot come to school if they vomited the evening before or the morning of a school day.
If your child has had DIARRHEA:
He/she can return to school when it will not interfere with regular school activities.
Students cannot come to school if they had diarrhea the evening before or the morning of a school day.
Picking up a Sick/Ill/Injured Student:
If the Health Office calls you to pick up your student, you need to pick him/her up within 30 minutes. A sick student cannot go home on the bus or stay in the Health Office until school is over.
