Update on Aug 27th: The Cleveland Tennis Team will have its fall meeting on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 9:00 AM at the tennis courts. Anyone interested in playing in the spring season are invited to attend. We will begin fall practice 2-3 times a week starting the week of September 8, 2025. You will need to have your 2025-2026 physical completed and be cleared by the athletic department before you can practice. Hope to see you there!
Fall Practices will start the 2nd week of September on Tues and Thurs afternoons (2:30-4:30 pm) and Sat mornings (9-11 am). You need to have your physicals submitted to the Athletic Department with clearance to play to participate in practice. Bring your racquet, tennis shoes, running shoes, full water bottles, sunscreen, hat, etc.
Yes you have to resubmit if you are using the last years physical that may still be good.
Only the page the doctor signed can be used again; everything else including the new medical history forms must be renewed.
The submission process has changed in addition to the required documents. Please don’t email in, use the portal.

Typical Schedule
We are going to run staggered practices this year, so that Varsity and JV have at least an hour where all 6 courts are available for use, which will give us more space for match play and drills where there is less standing around and waiting. Open courts on Saturday are optional, but strongly encouraged.
Varsity Girls and Boys
Mon: Practice from 2:30 - 4:30 pm
Tues: Practice from 2:30 - 4:30 pm
Wed: No practice if JV has matches
Thurs: Practice from 2:30 - 4:30 pm
Fri: Practice from 2:30 - 4:30 pm
Sat: Open Courts from 10 am - 12 pm
JV Girls and Boys
Mon: Practice from 3:30 - 5:30 pm
Tues: Practice from 3:30 - 5:30 pm
Wed: JV matches
Thurs: No practice
Fri: No practice
Sat: Open Courts from 12 - 2 pm
Parent Meeting - we are holding "Meet the Coaches" sessions where we can talk about the upcoming season and answer any questions you might have. Your attendance is recommended, but not required. Athletes can attend, but it's not expected or required. Also if you haven't done so, please watch the NMAA parent video (see link above).
Varsity: Tuesday March 4th from 6:00-6:45 pm in the classroom above the basketball gym (SE corner).
JV: Tuesday March 4th from 6:45-7:30 pm in the classroom above the basketball gym (SE corner).
Sign-up Session: We'll hold a short meeting on February 4th at 2:30 pm in the lecture hall at CHS for students to sign-up, meet the coaches. A parent meeting will take place later in Feb.
Injuries – The athlete needs to talk to coaches first/Dr’s note for severe injuries and trainer for all others/be respectful and follow the directions they give you.
Attitude - must attend practice, act appropriately; if need to miss practice, please communicate with the coaches the when you will miss and the reason for your absence.
JV Fees: JV needs to bring $30 fee which is paid to USTA. Cash or checks can be made out to “CHS”; due by Wed Feb 26th.
Fundraiser: This year we'll do a team store fundraiser instead of selling Tennis T-shirts. More details to follow.
Sponsors: If you know any businesses that would like to be a sponsor or donate to the program please let Coach Acosta know.
Communications: I will keep website from school tennis athletic page updated as much as possible, coaches phone numbers are there if you have any questions or concerns. Links to schedules will be at top of page.
Rides from matches by non-parent: If an athlete receives a ride from school transportation to a match, in order to get a ride home from the match by another parent, the athlete needs to print and have their parent sign the form below before an athlete can be taken from an event.
It must be printed and signed by parent and given before athlete can be taken from an event. This is school policy.
