As part of our Attendance Policy, we are informing you that the RRPS Board of Education requires high school students to be physically present in class at least 85% of the time in order to receive credit at the end of the semester.
For the 2025–2026 school year (both Fall and Spring semesters), this means students may miss no more than 14 class periods per class. Any student who exceeds 14 absences in a class—whether excused or unexcused—will not receive credit for that class.
We are required by the District to send you this notification. We understand there may be special circumstances impacting your child’s attendance, and we want to partner with you to support your student’s success.
Tips for managing attendance:
Monitor attendance and absences in PowerSchool.
Contact teachers directly to request missed assignments and help your student catch up.
Whenever possible, schedule non-urgent medical or dental appointments after school or on weekends.
Keep all absence-related documentation in your records.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email your student’s grade-level counselor directly in a separate email, and include your student’s name.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter, and for your partnership in helping your student succeed.
