test to stay (t2S) modified quarantine

The New Mexico Public Education Departments' "Test to Stay" COVID-19 program allows students identified as close contacts to a positive COVID-19 case in the school setting, to stay in school as long as they test negative on rapid tests. The goal of T2S is to will shorten the interruption of in-person learning and extracurricular participation.

Test to Stay requires an individual to test negative on rapid COVID-19 tests on days one, three, and five (or 2, 4, and 6) following exposure; day zero is the day of exposure.

To qualify for the T2S program, the athlete must:

  • Be unvaccinated and have not tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 90 days

  • Have been exposed to COVID-19 in the school setting

  • Have NOT been exposed outside of the school setting

  • Be asymptomatic

  • Choose to participate in T2S

athletes meeting the above t2S criteria must submit 3 qualifying test results in order to return to participation. Your submission should contain all three results as shown in the example below.

***A missed test (regardless of reason) or a positive test result terminates T2S***
