This group includes theoreticians and experimentalists engaged in studying stars, galaxies and the gaseous matter surrounding them, exotic celestial objects like pulsars, active galactic nuclei and the faint signals emerging from the epochs of recombination & reionization when the first stars and galaxies formed in the Universe.
This theme is involved in studying soft matter including colloids, liquid crystals, complex fluids, nano-composites, polymers, biological materials for their phase behaviour, geared towards a fundamental understanding of their structure-property relations. The department has state of the art experimental facilities apart from several techniques developed in-house.
EEG works with the modern design tools and test and measurement equipment for developing electronics systems using state-of-the-art technology. It has a history and current projects that involve building of antenna systems for radio astronomy telescopes.
The present library has been developed around the library started by Prof. C. V. Raman. After the institute’s activities enlarged from 1972 onwards, library’s collection developed in the new areas of research activities.
ThinkTac complements traditional learning, achieving conceptual mastery and developing critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication skills.
For more than 150 years, the Department of Posts (DoP) has been the backbone of the country's communication and has played a crucial role in the country's social economic development. It touches the lives of Indian citizens in many ways: delivering mails, accepting deposits under Small Savings Schemes, providing life insurance cover under Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) and providing retail services like bill collection, sale of forms, etc.
This theme is working towards understanding the fundamental properties of electromagnetic waves and their interactions with neutral and ultracold atoms, ions, and condensed matter. The cluster of quantum labs at RRI are at the global forefront in research in quantum and are poised to take up leadership roles under the National Quantum Mission.
This theme works on Foundational Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Physics, General Relativity, Quantum Gravity & Optics, and Condensed Matter towards modeling and predicting behaviours of physical systems. This year the researchers investigated and furthered the knowledge of quantum field theory, condensed matter, statistical physics, gravity, and cosmology.
The workshop has fairly advanced machinery and a team of skilled personnel who can undertake fabrication of various sophisticated mechanical hardware components for various groups (Radio Astronomy Lab, Light And Matter Physics Group, Soft Condensed Matter Group, X-ray Lab, etc.) .
Young Innovators is an inclusive organization dedicated to make learning a fun process with engaged, exploratory techniques of educating leaving behind the old directive training.
