Message from our school counselors:

We hope that all of our students are off to a good start for the 2nd semester. Although school still looks a little different for us this year, your School Counselors are still here for you to offer assistance so that you can be successful in school. Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 12:45 pm - 1:30 pm. If you would like to meet with your School Counselor, please email us so that we can schedule your time via a google meet.

"College Board BigFuture Days"

Planning for college can be complicated and overwhelming. That's why we wanted to tell you about College Board BigFuture Days. Between February and March 2021, College Board will host four free virtual college fairs designed to help students have real conversations with hundreds of colleges, admission representatives and current college students. All 10th and 11th grade students can sign up to attend any event and more than one, to explore college options in each region across the country.

BigFuture Day Northeast Region Sunday, March 7, 2021

BigFuture Day Midwest Region Thursday, March 11, 2021

If students are interested in colleges in Alamba, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida , Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington DC or West Virginia, please register for the event in the Southeast Region on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

-Get information about multiple colleges from college admissions officers and current college students

-Connect with college planning experts to help you take action on key steps to college.

Attention Juniors!

Planning and paying for college is complicated, so College Board has created a program that guides students through the process and rewards their efforts. Juniors are eligible to earn scholarships by taking the 6 steps during a certain window of time in their junior and senior year, which is listed in the Scholarship Poster attached. This year, juniors should focus on Steps 1-3. So get started by signing into your college board account. If you do not have an account, create your account and begin your process. Please visit cb.org/opportunity and click "Earn Scholarships" to get started.

Please note the following ....

-No minimum GPA or test scores

-No citizenship requirements

-No application, essay, or letters of recommendations

-Half of the scholarships are awarded to students from families with income of $60,000 or less

Each February the American Heart Association recognizes women and heart disease. Did you know that heart disease is the number one chronic disease in women? Go to https://www.goredforwomen.org to check out the signs and symptoms of stroke and heart attack in women.

Please join the student support staff by wearing red on Friday February 5th. Show support for the women in your life and share the information with them from the American Heart Association.
