Coach Murray is currently serving his 28th as a Head Varsity Basketball coach at Rocky River. During this time at Rocky River, Coach Murray's teams have won 7 Conference Titles, 3 District Championships and have 2 Elite Eight appearances. During his time with the girls, his 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 teams had a school record 21 wins. Once joining the boys program, Coach Murray's 2010-2011 team finish with a school record 22-3. Coach Murray has been named GCBCA Coach of the Year twice along with Conference Coach of the Year 7 times. During the 2023-24 season, Coach Murray was able to reach 350 wins. Coach Murray played college basketball at the University of Mount Union from 1992-96 and he is the all-time assist leader.
Coach Maslar brings over 19 years of coaching experience to Rocky River. He has been the Head Coach of the Ohio Basketball Club (OBC) for the past five years where he has led the 2026 squad to a top 25 National Ranking, a #2 in the State of Ohio Ranking, and numerous championships at Nationally Recognized tournaments such as the Dru Joyce Classic, Las Vegas Classic, and Buckeye Prep. Coach Maslar has also had stops at Holy Name High School, Lancaster University in England as a Player/Coach, St. Columbkille and the North Royalton Travel Basketball Program. Coach Maslar graduated from Holy Name High School where he was a 3 year varsity letterman, All North Coast Conference Selection, and Team MVP. Coach Maslar continued his playing career at Case Western Reserve University where he played for legendary coach Bill Sudeck.
Coach Hopkins is entering his 4th year of coaching basketball. He is originally from Strongsville, where he trained and coached players of all different ages. He played at Strongsville High School, where he was a 3 year letterman. He then went on to take his game to Muskingum University before transferring to Ohio University to focus on coaching. Jonnie Hopkins coaches alongside his father Jon Hopkins, and they hit the ground running their first year at River by winning the Great Lakes Conference championship at the 7th grade level.
When you think about Rocky River, one of the first names that come to mind is Coach Sanders. Having served in numerous roles at Rocky River, Coach Sanders brings over 30 years of experience coaching basketball at the school. As an assistant, Coach Sanders has been a part of the most successful season ever in Rocky River history including in the 90's, 2000's and 2010's. Coach Sanders has served twice as a head coach at RRHS; once as the Girls Basketball Head Coach RRHS Baseball Head Coach. Coach Sanders is a graduate of Wooster College where he played for Hall of Fame Coach Steve Moore.
