Chess Club

WELCOME TO THE RHHS CHESS CLUB WEB PAGE

The Rocky River High School Chess Club is a fun, inviting environment where students can learn anywhere from chess basics to becoming nationally ranked chess competitors. Meetings are once a week, held on different days to minimize conflicts. Players may choose to simply enjoy the game with their friends, while others may also join the RRHS Chess team traveling squad. The traveling team will compete in local, state, and even national tournaments representing themselves and RRHS. The team results are listed below in red.

The Chess Club plays in the Greater Cleveland Scholastic Chess League. The league consists of 4 tournaments, and is a great place for beginners to try tournament play. They are sanctioned by the USCF, so players receive an official USCF rating and can track their skill level. The tournaments are divided by ratings, thus you only play those near your skill level.
