Educational Background

Prior to coming to RRMS, I earned two Bachelor degrees from Bowling Green State University by majoring in French and Social Work with a minor in psychology.  Go Falcons!!  After graduation I worked as a social worker for adults and transitional youth on a mental health contract whose mission was to help people with disabillities gain employment skills and maintain employment.  While working with adults with mental health disabilities, I realized I enjoyed working the most with the transitional youth and decided to go back to school to pursue my special education degree and also obtained a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University in order to continue working with children.  Craving even more knowledge, I later continued to obtain a second Masters degree in School Counseling from Cleveland State University.

I began my teaching experience with Bay Village City Schools by doing psychological testing for the district and was then hired for a special education classroom that worked with students with behavioral and emotional needs. After that, I was hired by Rocky River Middle in 1997 to work as a tutor and the next year was hired to be a full-time intervention specialist there as well.  During my time at the middle school, I have taught a variety of grade levels and subjects from American History to science class, but have been working in special education with seventh graders now for almost ten years in math and English classes.

Personal Life

I live in Bay Village with my husband, Chuck, and we have three sons. Two are out of the nest and our twelve-year-old remains.  We also have an incredibly cute dog named Monte, who as you can see, thinks he is a person!

I enjoy traveling around the world when I'm not working and experiencing new cultures.  We are quite an international family as my father, stepmother, sister, and nieces all live in France, thus the major of French in college!  When we get an opportunity to visit, we like to try and visit other countries as well.
