About Early College
Early College History and Background
Revere Early College offers students the opportunity to earn 30 college credits for FREE, while still in high school. The classes are all taught by North Shore Community College Professors.
This program provides the benefits of Dual Enrollment, but is embedded within the regular school day.
Professors will come to RHS and teach in our classrooms during the regular school day.
In Junior/Senior year, we will provide transportation to NSCC for classes so students don’t need to go anywhere after school or in the evenings (like you would for regular dual enrollment).
Students will be getting a head start on college and we will be here to help you every step of the way.
Here are a few ways that we will help support students in the REC program:
Career exploration workshops
College application help
Note taking and other study skill strategies
Choosing a college major
Referrals for Tutoring and other support services at RHS STEM and Writing Center as well as through NSCC
Community Service Opportunities
Student success check-ins to make sure you are attending classes and managing classwork
College financial aid workshops
Field trips to local colleges
Early College “Spring Break Week” and other fun activities!
Academic Advising available every week during CAT Block
Office Hours with Professors
Our goal is to help students be better prepared for college.
We want to equip students with the tools and habits that lead to success not only in high school, but in all post-secondary learning pathways.
Students who complete the program will have a minimum of 30 credits of college credits.
That is the equivalent of one full year of college!
For free!
Courses such as Composition 101, General Psychology, Speech, Statistics, and others will enable students to get the general education requirements (required for most associate and bachelor’s degrees) completed before they even graduate high school!
Credits will transfer to all public colleges and universities in Massachusetts.
Private colleges and universities transfer policies will vary.
