I teach Journalism, English IV Honors and AP Lang. and Comp.. This is my third year advising The Quill and it is awesome! Our students have so much to say and watching them learn and produce the school paper is an amazing feat.
Below are the students whose voices will be heard in the 2024-2025 editions.
Editor- in- Chief
I am a Junior at RPHS, now in my second year with the Scarlet Quill. My passions include singing, dancing, and acting- I often find myself covering the musical scene at our school. Beyond journalism, I also hold the titles of President for both the Dead Poets Society and the Cosmetology Club. Writing has been my passion since I first picked up a pen, and I believe it's a wonderful avenue for creativity and self-expression. Over the years, my love for writing has only deepened. This club has given me the opportunity to explore diverse writing genres, including my recent focus on music. Last year, I delved into the world of musical activities, and this year, I'm excited to broaden my horizons- discussing current events and diving even deeper into the realm of music. As I continue my journey with the Scarlet Quill, I look forward to further immersing myself in the world of music and sharing the stories that resonate with our school community.

I am a senior at RPHS, currently a part of the Journalism class. It is my first time working on the Quill, where I could explore different ways of collaborating with people and writing articles. I am a part of the Tennis Team, Bowling Team, National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Key Club, and Math & Science League. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and tasting different cultural foods. I am interested in school news, programs offered, and movie reviews. Overall, journalism seemed like an entertaining way of expressing myself and my interests.

Hello! I am Giulia and I am currently a senior. I have been doing a lot in school during my time, I am the Treasurer for Student Government, President of Model UN, and Vice President of Stitch for a Cause. Besides my academics, I love to read and write, especially, fiction I have been writing for the newspaper on and off since freshman year.

My name is Gabriella González, mostly known as Gabi, and I’m in my senior year of high school. I’m involved with the Key Club, NHS, and Mu Alpha Theta, but I enjoy reading, writing, and analyzing poetry and music outside of academics. I took an interest in cooking and baking. Lastly, I’m interested in astrology and mythology. I joined Journalism because I always had an interest in writing, whether fiction or nonfiction, journalism seemed like another step I could take to pursue my interest. You could expect articles regarding reviews about restaurants (local enough to visit), current Spanish news, and recipes for specific months.

I enjoy singing in my basement, playing guitar in my basement, and drawing my disordered and chaotic flow of unfiltered thoughts and perceptions. In my basement. I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with writing because I always feel the need that everything I write has to be fresh and theatrical. A double-edged sword. I joined the Scarlet Quill for that exact reason: so that it can become the dump of my ideas, and I stop wasting my time thinking about how I can make anything sound more unique for English Do-Now’s. I am also part of the Royal Scarlet Band, where I can be loud and obnoxious; but I’m also part of MUN, which makes me a bit less loud and obnoxious. I freak out when my headphones are lost because then I have to listen to my thoughts, so expect multiple music-related articles from me! Or art-related. Maybe even weird things, like exploding head syndrome. The unchartered territory is the best place to be in. I’ll say that I’m a senior at the end of my bio instead of the beginning because I’m pretentious like that. Also, did you know that an actual synonym for milk is moo juice?

Salutations! I am 17 years old and involved in journalism. Ever since I was little, I've loved writing and can often be found doing it. However, writing isn't my only hobby. I enjoy various forms of art, including music, painting, drawing, and fashion. I also have a passion for performing arts, such as acting, singing, and playing instruments.
The instruments I play are the piano, guitar, and trumpet. I began learning the piano at a young age, later picked up the guitar, and briefly learned the violin. However, I didn't continue with the violin because it was a school-assigned instrument. In 8th grade, I discovered my love for the trumpet, which has since become my main source of joy.
During my adolescence, I began exploring different art styles, one of which is anime. My fascination with anime grew, and I've watched over 2,000 series, including popular titles like Pokémon, Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, Tower of God, A Sign of Affection, Haikyuu, Attack on Titan, Bleach, and Naruto. I've also enjoyed less mainstream shows like My Happy Marriage, Fruits Basket, Love in War, Rising of the Shield Hero, Delicious in Dungeon, and Records of Ragnarok. This interest extended to manga, collectibles, and other items that remind me of these series.
In addition to my love for anime, I also enjoy sports like tennis, volleyball, basketball, and sometimes soccer. I love skateboarding and roller skating, which I grew fond of while spending time with friends, and enjoying all these activities together.

I am a freshman and a first-time writer for the Scarlet Quill. I enjoy watching TV, hanging out with my friends, and drawing. I also like to bake, play piano, and run. I don't do sports but I love to exercise and do yoga. My favorite shows are Grey's Anatomy and Outer Banks. I'm a big writer, mostly by hand, and I love to express myself through writing. I chose journalism to get deeper into writing and learn more about the school newspaper.

I am a freshman at RPHS and a first time-writer in journalism. Apart from journalism to keep myself entertained I enjoy baking, sleeping, watching volleyball (both inside and outside of school), listening to music, hanging out with friends and family, learning to do hair, and eating Chipotle. I am also a participant on the RPHS school volleyball team, which has been one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve been able to be a part of. I chose journalism for 1 out of the 2 electives given because of my 8th-grade ELA teacher, Ms. Son. She wrote to me, “It’s not always the flashiest student who succeeds, often it’s the ones who persevere through the hard things and won’t be afraid when they face another challenge.” Her words encouraged me to enhance my abilities in writing and see how far it takes me in life. In the future, you can expect to see articles from me on topics about mental health, current news, sports, and opinions on music albums, music artists, and so on.

I am a freshman at RPHS, and this is my first year writing for The Scarlet Quill. Outside of journalism, I like to watch movies, go on walks, and cheer. I even volunteer to coach cheer for the LFRP town team. I also love to listen to music. I have always enjoyed writing, so I thought that journalism would be the perfect opportunity for that.

My name is Ashley Pujols and I’m a freshman! This is my first year in journalism. I chose journalism for the thrill of being able to choose what I write and showcase a bit of myself in my writing. I also really enjoy drawing, listening to music, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. I hope to contribute entertainment and a little bit of myself in each article that I write for the Scarlet Quill!

I am a freshman and this is my first time participating in the Scarlet Quill. I joined Quill and Journalism in general because of my love for writing and being able to express my own thoughts and opinions on situations. You can expect from me articles talking about in-school or outside-world situations and or events. I would say I'm a nice person to talk to and be friends with and I'm positive about opening a conversation with anyone and meeting someone new. My main style of music is rock, indie, alternative, and punk. I'll listen to other genres such as RnB. I'm a big animal lover and would definitely risk getting rabies from a stray animal because I wanted to pet it. I love things such as dying my hair, going out with friends, late night texts and calls, nature, the colors red and purple, plushies, pins, keychains or just random little trinkets in general. My most favorite little guy in this world that I absolutely adore with all my heart is pompompurin. I'm currently not in any clubs or sports but I would try almost anything if you recommend it to me. My personal hobbies/activities are writing, reading, drawing and crafting. I'm very bubbly once you get to know me and I get comfortable and express myself pretty fast. I'm hoping to see the Quill sky rocket in popularity and become a true part of the Scarlet Nation. I hope everyone has an amazing year and goodluck!
