Who are we?

            Rapides Academy for Advanced Academics is Rapides Parish's academic magnet middle school. We accept applications annually during the month of February. Rapides Academy for Advanced Academics consists of students in grades 6-8 and offers an accelerated and rigorous high school prep curriculum. Our academic program provides students with the knowledge and social skills necessary to successfully transition to advanced high school courses, and our rich variety of electives meets the needs of a diverse group of students.  Since learning with technology is a priority in our classrooms, each classroom is equipped with a Promethean board and a classroom set of Google Chromebooks. Using technology in our classrooms helps students build skills in critical thinking, verbal and written communication, and group problem solving.  We have programs for gifted and talented students, and we offer challenging high school credit courses, Algebra I, World Geography, Physical Science, Spanish I and II, Keyboarding, and Quest for Success. Enrichment electives such as Robotics, Digital Media, and several STEM/STEAM courses serve to enhance the educational experience for our students.
