Pre-K

The application for Pre-K at Bolton Academy at Lincoln Road is different than the application used for grades K-5 at Bolton Academy at Lincoln Road and the other magnet programs in the parish. That is because our Pre-K is not part of the Magnet program. The Pre-K classes are simply housed on this campus.
Therefore, acceptance into the Pre-K program does not guarantee acceptance into our Kindergarten the following year. In the spring of your child's Pre-K year, you will need to submit an application for Kindergarten, and your child must pass the entrance exam.
Applications will be accepted each year throughout the month of February for the following school year.
You must come to the school to complete a Pre-K application (it is different than the one on-line). When you come, you will need to bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate, Social Security card, and shot record. Applications without these documents will not be accepted.
Having a sibling here at Bolton Academy at Lincoln Road DOES NOT guarantee that your Pre-K student will get accepted! There are state guidelines that we must follow when accepting students into our Pre-K classes because they are funded with state funds.

APPLICATIONS

Applications will be available and accepted here at Bolton Academy at Lincoln Road throughout the month of February for the following school year.
Applications for Phoenix can only be turned in at Bolton Academy at Lincoln Road. They will not be accepted by fax, on-line, or at the Magnet Office. Additional forms will need to be completed at the school.
All Magnet Schools will use the same application, and your application can only be submitted to one Magnet School.

When submitting an application, please bring copies of your child’s birth certificate, social security card, and current shot record. Also, you will need to bring copies of your child’s most recent report card.

ACCEPTANCE

Applications are not handled as “first-come, first-served.” In other words, an application received on February 19th will not be given priority over an application received on February 28th.
Applications that are complete and that are turned in on time at Phoenix will be screened for eligibility.
Parents of students who do not meet eligibility requirements will be notified in writing by Bolton Academy at Lincoln Road no later than June 1st.
Siblings will be given priority. However, siblings are not automatically accepted. Siblings must meet all eligibility requirements and submit a completed application on time. In addition, a sibling cannot be accepted if no openings are available.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If your child currently attends Bolton Academy at Lincoln Road in grades K-5, you do not need to complete an application. You will receive a Letter of Intent form in January or February. Please complete this form and return it to your child's teacher by the due date given.
If your child currently attends Phoenix in Pre-K, you will also receive a Letter of Intent. If you return the Letter of Intent with a "yes" we will send you an application. You must complete and return the application, and your child must also pass the Kindergarten entrance exam in order to be accepted for Kindergarten.
