College Planning
Make a list of colleges that you are interested in and include their important dates and deadlines.
Go on campus visits if possible. Meet with college reps when they come to RHS.
Attend Mountie Time sessions or college / trade school field trips hosted by the Mountie Counseling Center.
Take (and retake) the ACT and/or SAT or the Accuplacer (can take at NWACC for $10).
Fee waivers are available for the ACT (2) and SAT (2) for students who qualify.
Complete & submit applications (get application fee waivers from your Counseling Secretary if you are qualified).
Request transcripts via Parchment (turn in your Records Release form first).
Send test scores to your college when requested or beneficial (order through your ACT or College Board account).
Complete the FAFSA and any scholarship applications.
Interested in NWACC? Sign up for the NWACC tour this fall and apply for application and for NWACC Scholarships.
Review acceptance letters and financial aid offers.
Get admitted, select a college, apply for housing, and enroll!

For most people, you are looking for a good or best fit, not a perfect fit.
Common App: check to see what supplemental materials your college requires in addition to your application.
Request teacher and counselor recommendations as needed (2 weeks’ notice) and turn in your Brag Sheet early.
Does your school require a School Report, Counselor Report or other supplemental materials? We require a 2-week notice.
Does your college require the STARS (Self-Reported Transcript & Academic Record System)? This allows you to self-report your academic record.

Roadmaps to Arkansas Colleges
Arkansas participates in the ACM (Academic Common Market). If you are majoring in something that is not offered at an Arkansas university, you may be able to qualify for in-state tuition rates at participating regional universities.
Not a border state, but nearby, and some colleges offer in-state tuition to Arkansas residents.
