Teacher Profiles

The Team

Humanities is co-taught by Amy Milner, Eva Lambert, and Nathan Riggs. Amy has a background in middle and high school social studies and English, while Eva has an advanced degree in writing, rhetoric, and composition.  Additionally, Amy has trained extensively with Facing History and Ourselves.

Amy Milner has been working in the field of education for over 20 years. She holds a bachelor's degree from Earlham College and master's degrees in Political Science (Temple University) and Education/Reading (St. Xavier University). She has taken advantage of several opportunities to live and study abroad, including a year as an AFS exchange student in South Africa and a year of college at Tel Aviv University. Over the course of her career, Amy has taught everything from three-year-old preschool to college classes.  Her passion, however, is working with middle school students.  She loves her students, and she hopes that they learn from her nearly as much as she learns from them.

Eva Lambert, a native of the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina, has extensive experience working with students of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of education. After earning her Master's Degree in Rhetoric and Composition from Appalachian State University, they taught 1st and 2nd year College Writing, served as a writing consultant for the local community and non-profit organizations and worked in several Montessori classrooms. However, Eva has "found her happy place" in the middle school classroom. She claims, "Middle school students are excited to learn... and are still developing their own thoughts, opinions, and personalities!" This year, Eva is looking forward to helping students understand not only the content of their writing but also why writing is so crucial to gaining a deeper understanding of the human experience.
