Welding - The act of fusing two individual pieces of material by using heat to fuse them together so that they become one.

Class overview

Our welding course is broken down into 4 individual and distinctive classes that have to be taken in order. Each class builds on the knowledge gained in the previous and helps you advance your skill and knowledge level in the field of welding.

Intro To Welding (Year 1)

Intro to Welding will be your first introduction into the world of welding. In this course you will get a basic understanding of the shop environment, safety, shop equipment, oxy-fuel cutting and SMAW welding. We are proud to provide a OSHA course that will provide the student an OSHA certification provided they pass the required exams.

Welding I (Year 2)

Welding I builds on what you learned from intro to welding and adds to it by allowing you to spend more time under the welding hood to help gain the skills necessary to advance in the program. You will also dive into more complicated pieces of equipment and how to use them.

Welding II (Year 3)

Welding II takes what is learned in welding I a step further. This will be an introduction into fabrication and more complicated assignments and projects. At this point you will use critical thinking and shop knowledge to solve problems and create solutions. The welding process learned during this course is GMAW (Mig Welding) and FCAW (Fluxcore Welding)

Practicum of Welding (Year 4)

The final course in our program is the Practicum of Welding. In this course you take all of your experience and knowledge gained and you fine tune it to prepare yourself for the workforce. The final process that you will learn is GTAW commonly known as tig welding. You will also gain experience in Submerged Arc Welding (SubArc).

About me

My name is Mr.Salais. I graduated from Royal High School in 2011 and thanks to the knowledge and experience that I obtained thru the welding program, I was able to get a job at SMS Precision Tech as a welder. At SMS I held multiple positions including shop foreman, fabrication shop manager, and assistant operations manager. After close to 9 years in the industry I had the great opportunity to return to Royal High School and continue the program that had been such a huge factor in my life. This program has a history of success and a winning culture and I will work with every student to keep it going.
