7th Grade Art
In 7th Grade Art, students focus on problem-solving, using the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design in order to create expressive, but well organized works of art. Students develop basic drawing skills through shading, blending and perspective. Students are exposed to a variety of both 2-D dimensional and 3-D media. Students will analyze their artwork, the artwork of their peers and the work of well-known artists through class critiques and writing. Students will draw, paint, sculpt and printmake in 7th Grade Art!
8th Grade Art
In 8th Grade Art, students continue to develop various drawing, painting and sculpting skills necessary to create their own original works of art. Students learn the importance of keeping a sketchbook and why basic drawing exercises are so important to an artist. Students will apply the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design as part of their creative process throughout this course. Students will also develop a deeper understanding of the art critique process. Students work with Ebony pencils, blending sticks, charcoal, watercolors, acrylic paints and clay- aprons are a must!
