Common Sense Media rates movies, TV shows, books, and more so parents can feel good about the entertainment choices they make for their kids. We offer the largest, most trusted library of independent age-based ratings and reviews. Our timely parenting advice supports families as they navigate the challenges and possibilities of raising kids in the digital age. Learn how we rate and review and see our founding editors' 10 Beliefs. Our vision: Families taking charge of their digital choices.

Students learn about their stress response or "lizard brain" (limbic) and their "smart parts" (prefrontal cortex). Understanding the neurobiology helps motivate children and adults to practice mindfulness regularly.
Able takes you through body scan meditation. Kids love this and so do parents and educators.
In Mindfulness for kids, Shamash Alidina describes the body scan as a way to get in touch with the body, let go of feelings of needing to get stuff done, and release pent-up emotions. Just like other forms of meditation, the body scan also trains attention.
Tools for BIG feelings. Free resources available to help students understand and be introduced to new feelings
To help youth cope with the challenges brought on by the pandemic, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, developed a series of tools that teach healthy ways to deal with stressful situations. Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. What we think can affect how we feel and act. And what we do can affect how we think and feel. Changing one can help change the others. We can use this fact to help ourselves feel better and live the way we want to live.
