Purpose
The focus of the RCSJ-Rowan University Chemical Assistantship Training (R2CAT) program is to identify strategies to support community college student persistence, soft & technical skill development, and matriculation into the chemical workforce. One aim of this program is to provide applied research experiences to community college students dedicated to entering the STEM workforce after completing their associate degree. Additionally, professional development and networking opportunities will be provided for participants in preparation for their transition into the workforce.
Timeline
The R2CAT program will consist of site visits to local chemical industries, a summer research experience at Rowan University, and professional development workshops over a 12-month period. RCSJ student participants will receive a stipend during the summer, fall, and spring semesters for their continued participation.
Program Coordinators
The R2CAT program is overseen by Dr. Rashanique Quarels-Allen (Rowan University) and Dr. Christina Nase (RCSJ). Any questions regarding the program can be emailed to quarels@rowan.edu or cnase@rcsj.edu.
