Thomas began his research journey in Dr. Dong’s lab through Rowan’s Summer STEAM Program for K8-12 and has continued his work throughout the academic year. His dedication and passion for science have led to remarkable achievements at the Coriell Institute Science Fair:

🏆 1st Place in Chemistry (9th-10th Grade Category)
🏆 Best in Chemistry Special Award (9th-12th Grade) : Presented by the American Chemical Society's Southern New Jersey Chapter, recognizing excellence across Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Microbiology, and Biology.

We are incredibly proud of Thomas and excited to see where his scientific journey takes him next!

09/2024: Research assistants from Dr. Dong's team attended a special symposium hosted by the Princeton Materials Institute, Photonics NJ, and Universal Display Corporation. They presented a poster titled "Sodium-Based Electrochromic Materials and Coupled Electrochemical Nano-Mechanics."

08/2024: Congratulations to Dr. Dong and the team on being awarded $50,000 by the National Science Foundation (NSF) for the project "I-Corps: Translation Potential of Microsensor Systems for Monitoring Fuel Cell Membrane Degradations for Electric Vehicles"! This recognition highlights the innovative work being done to advance technologies for electric vehicles and clean energy deployment.
