A Bit About Me
A Bit About Me
Hi, my name is Pete Rafferty and I am the trainer for the Euneos "Tech Toolbox for Teachers AI" course.
The AI bit wasn't even thought about when the course was first proposed in June 2022 but since ChatGPT hit the world in December 2022 the use of technology in education has changed massively.
I live in Maghull which is just outside Liverpool in the UK and have worked as a primary school teacher for quite a long time and have always tried to develop the use of technology to make my teaching better and learning for my pupils more interesting.
I spent most of my teaching career at Green Park Primary School and we became quite famous for our school blog which developed the digital skills of both teachers and pupils as well as being a great platform for sharing news and information about the school.
In 2014 I left full-time teaching and started my educational technology adventures including working for Euneos on the "Touch, Pinch Swipe" course and "Digital Turn" and have worked on these courses in Barcelona, Benalmadena, Porto and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
I was invited in 2015 to become one of Intel's "Education Visionaries" and visited San Francisco and Denver as part of the experience.
In 2017 I was invited by SchoolsNet South Africa to attend their "ICT in the Classroom" conference.
I was named in 2018 as one of the "UK's Edtech 50".
During Covid, I started working at Crosthwaite Primary School, a small primary school in the Lake District region of England. Initially, it was during a period of lockdown in the UK so all my lessons were delivered remotely via Google Classroom including sessions from Crosby Beach home of Antony Gormley's "Another Place" but now I travel there once each week and have a lovely time with the children and all the different animals who live there (the animals not the children!).
I do like taking advantage of using the local environment for my lessons.
I have a season ticket with Liverpool Football Club and travel across Europe watching them play.
At home, I'm Grandad Pete to five boys and one girl ......who all keep me busy!
