Video Production

(1) Principles of Arts, A/V Technology & Communication #5841

In the first semester, this course will focus on the history of film, current practice and future trends for careers in audio/video, printing & imaging technology, fashion design, graphic design and animation. Students will be learning pre-production and production skills, terminology, lighting and camera techniques that will be used in their second semester team projects.

(1) Audio/Video Production #5850

Students will learn the importance of teamwork, planning and flexibility in the world of video production in this course, and produce the daily video announcements for Westwood High School. Three point lighting, interview techniques, special interest segments and advanced editing skills will be covered in this course.

(2) Audio/Video Production II #5886 -

Students will be expected to produce more technically challenging projects using advanced editing, visual effects, audio, and color correction. Working in crews, students will develop their directing, shooting, and editing skills as they produce scripts written in class and become more experienced.

(2) Practicum in Audio/Video Production #5849 -

In the final and most advanced course in the video production track, students will work one-on-one with the teacher to create their individually written, produced, and directed projects. Students will be encouraged to apply for internships as well as submit their films to film festivals.
