AFJROTC Flight Academy

The Air Force Chief of Staff's AFJROTC Flight Academy program is an amazing opportunity for high achieving AFJROTC cadets who have expressed interest in the aviation "sector" after High School.  There is no "commitment" to the Air Force, or the US Government, for receiving this scholarship and participating.  It is "free!"

The scholarship will pay for round-trip airfare, room and board, collegiate academics, and flight hours required to potentially earn a Private Pilot’s Certificate (PPC) through an in-residence collegiate program that is approximately eight (8) weeks in length.

Each university hosting students is an independent organization and provides its own management and oversight for students and programs. Cadets will be engaged in an intensive academic, flying training program and may have classes or flying training during weekend hours. Completion of the PPC is singularly dependent on each student’s academic and flying ability and the university’s determination and judgment to recommend a student.

If you are interested in applying for the AFJROTC Flight Academy program, please contact the TX-861st AFJROTC SASI or ASI.  Keep in mind that the competition for this scholarship is extremely stiff.  If you are interested in applying, review the materials below.  Key facets which you can prepare for now, include studying (see the information on AQT study) [AQT score > 60]; physical fitness [PT score at the 75th percentile or higher]; and involved in extracurriculars (e.g. JROTC LDR teams, athletics, band, work, etc) which demonstrates your capacity & interest to learn and lead.  Candidates may receive additional "points" towards their application if they are involved in activities such as CAP & Scouts; and/or if they've accomplished any flight training, including hours flown (or in an FAA simulator); ground school; FAA license, etc.

The application window is expected to open in September with testing and applications complete and submitted by November of each year.
