The philosophy of arts integration in Round Rock ISD comes from The Kennedy Center. Three pillars form the arts integration program at Wells Branch Elementary Arts Integration Academy.
Arts Integration
Students learn with and through the arts. In full integration lessons they are demonstrating mastery of TEKS in classroom content and fine arts content at the same time. In arts enhanced lessons, students use the arts to deepen understanding in another area, but will only be demonstrating one TEK.
Arts As Curriculum
Students at Wells Branch receive weekly instruction in dance, music, theatre, and visual art. Students learn the skills in each area, building on their knowledge each year. These art foundations are a crucial basis of knowledge to aid students with arts-integrated lessons in the classroom.
Arts Enrichment
Students have opportunites to further explore the arts in after school programming. We aim for a variety of classes to be offered each year.
