Meet the Librarians!

Librarian, Ms. Jeannie Moody: I am thrilled to be starting my third year at Wells Bells Branch Arts Integrated Academy! I have worked in secondary and elementary education for 15 years and have backgrounds in creative writing and journalism. Fort Brown, my collection of short stories and essays about growing up along the US-Mexico border was published in 2012. In my spare time, I write and direct a scripted podcast and make films as well as puppet shows with my brilliant group of actor friends.

I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in English in 2002. Afterward, I returned to school to pursue two master's degrees: the first was in creative writing from the University of Texas Pan-American and the other in library and information science from Texas Woman's University.  I am a fierce advocate of literature accessibility for children of all ages and neurotypes, and love watching students find themselves in books! My goal is to instill a lifelong love of reading and learning in students and to help prepare them for secondary education and eventually adulthood. 

I truly believe that words are transformative. They hold power and it is my job as an educator to teach students the value of using words to shape both their inner and outer worlds! I am so excited I'll have the opportunity to do this at WBE AIA and am looking forward to an amazing year! 

Library Assistant, Mrs. Elizabeth Martin: Hi! I'm a mom to two WBE Explorers and a lifelong library lover. I spent over 10 yeasr as an elementary educator prior to growing my family. For the past thre years, I've volunteered at WBE, serving in PTA leadership, supporting our school community, and volunteering in the school library to shelve books and assist with library programs. I also serve as a trustee at the Wells Branch Community Library, which has deepened my passion for connecting readers of all ages with meaningful stories and resources. 

I also speak Spanish and enjoy using it whenever I can. I can't wait to support students in their reading journey! 

Fun Fact: I love listening to audiobooks while I embroider, garden, or work on projects around the house -- I average 75 books a year.
