Information for those directing contestants to their event rooms:
The announcer will announce, “Will all contestants for Spelling go to the designated leaders in the Commons and line up by your grade level?”
Each of you will be holding up a sign for that event with that grade level. You will lead your group to the event room. The events and their room numbers will be posted outside each end of the hallway. Make sure you know where your event room is located.
Once you drop off your contestant members to their room, you will report back to the Common. Put your sign away in the library in a neat pile.
Impromptu Speaking Volunteers: Your job will be fast-paced and busy. You will be at times fully occupied as runners to get contestants and walk them from the Lecture Hall holding room to the testing rooms in the Longhorn Hallway. Please be sure to listen to the coach’s instructions very carefully, so you are retrieving the correct contestant.
Report back to Ms. Gutierrez who may assign you with new duties.
Other duties:
be in the cafeteria to monitor students,
direct students to the bathroom and water location,
Show students to the front office to make a phone call
Remind students to sign out at the front entry
Keep the snack area tidy and refresh the drinks and snacks when necessary
Monitor outside the Lecture Hall. There are students inside LH waiting their turn to compete. They may be practicing inside. Route any Impromptu students back to LH if they wander down the hallway towards the band area.
