Meet the Teacher

Dear Whisker Families,

Thank you for sharing your children with me.  I am so excited to get to know your kids. And guess what, I already love them!

I have been around Laurel Mountain for the last sixteen years...first as a parent and then as an assistant in special education.  It was working one-on-one with these amazing kids that I found my love for kindergarten.

The thing I love most about kinder is the idea of helping them find their love of school.  It’s such an amazing year of growth. They won’t be the same children in May as when they started in August.

My first career was in journalism.  For twenty years, I produced television news, winning an Emmy Award from the Pacific Southwest Chapter.  I transitioned into a consultant role, teaching journalists all over the U.S. and Canada. 

I am the mom of two terrific boys.  Hart is 22 and is in grad school at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.  Breck is 15 and is my carpool buddy each morning before he takes off for Westwood.

We love to spend time outside, go to sporting events, shop, travel, and of course play with our whiskered pets...Consuela and Willie Nelson.
