Classroom Happenings

April will be an exciting month for Kindergarten. On April 11th,  Kindergarten will be going on a field trip to the Umlauf Sculpture Garden. We will have a guided tour, and will have the opportunity to learn and appreciate art through the garden. In Math, we are working on adding and subtracting within 10. In Reading, we are still focusing on reading decodable books, and improving comprehension and fluency. In Science, we are finishing up our unit of Basic Needs of Plants & Animals and Animal Parts. In Social Studies, we are learning about Holidays and celebrations.

This month we celebrated The 100th day of school. In Math we will be learning to compare two numbers to tell which is bigger or smaller. We are also learning to measure objects and compare them according to their attributes. We continue to count to 100 by ones, fives, and tens. In reading, we are learning to make connections to ideas in texts and identify previously learned high-frequency words in print. In science, we are studying the physical properties of objects by observing and describing rocks and natural sources of water. In Social Studies we are learning about authority figures in home, school, and community.
